Tulsa can be the safest big city in America. I am incredibly grateful for the men and women who serve our city in the police and fire departments, and I know that we can deliver on the promise of safety for all citizens. As we continue strengthening relationships, creating a more accountable government, and ensuring neighborhoods are places where residents can thrive – we will work to rid our streets of the most violent, repeat criminals among us. But chief among our public safety priorities will be investment in the communities where opportunities seem few and far between.

Major Goals

• Implement prevention strategies through mentorship and community programs
• End the backlog of untested rape kits in Tulsa and decrease domestic violence rates
• Address repeat offenders
• Focus on deterrence and intervention strategies 
• Invest in neighborhood revitalization initiatives 
• Ensure we are meeting the mental health crisis needs of Tulsans needing support

To help us bridge the gap between the Mayor’s Office and the day-to-day operations of our public safety departments, former Major Laurel Roberts will serve as the City’s Commissioner of Public Safety.
