The City of Tulsa’s Stormwater Division will host its 23rd Annual Creek Clean-Up Event on Saturday, May 6 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. The clean-up event this year will focus on Dirty Butter Creek and Osage Trail.
Volunteers can register for the event online or by contacting the Tulsa County Conservation District at (918) 280-1595 or [email protected].
Individuals participating in the clean-up event will meet at 9 a.m. at Tulsa Educare, 3420 N. Peoria Ave.
Volunteers will help pick up trash along the stream and trail, so individuals are encouraged to wear outdoor clothing. Participants will receive light snacks and lunch provided by Rib Crib and Tulsa Young Professionals. An educational presentation and door prizes will also be provided.
The City of Tulsa Stormwater Division has an extensive education program that focuses on pollution prevention within the city to keep Tulsa’s streams safe and enjoyable for the public.
The main objective of the education program is to help prevent pollution from entering storm drains and ultimately Tulsa’s streams. Pollutants such as: household chemicals, car vehicle fluids, grass clippings, and even pet waste can impact Tulsa’s streams.
The City of Tulsa aggressively takes action to improve the health of Tulsa streams through surface water quality monitoring and enforcement programs, infrastructure improvements, the watershed characterization program and public education programming.
