June 6, 2018 - On June 5, the City of Tulsa Equipment Management Division was named the No. 1 fleet among the Leading Fleets at the Government Fleet Expo and Conference (GFX) in San Diego, California.
The City of Tulsa operation was chosen the overall No. 1 fleet for demonstrating leadership with staff, customers and within the community; staying efficient and competitive; overcoming challenges; and having a vision and direction for the operation.
“I’m tremendously proud to say Tulsa has achieved being the No. 1 Fleet in North America! This is a tremendous achievement and is a result of the hard work and dedication of our entire team. It’s not awarded to those who have the newest facilities or vehicles or the most resources. It’s about organizations finding ways to do new things and deal with the hurdles that each of us face in the fleet world,” said Mike Wallace, maintenance manager.
Wallace also thanked his whole team, including administrative manager Brian Franklin, administrative supervisor John Reel who was also present to accept the award, and everyone working at the City of Tulsa Equipment Management Division.
Judges Craig Croner, Kelly Reagan, and Bob Stanton, as well as staff from Government Fleet and Ford and Geotab, the award sponsors, were on stage to congratulate the fleet.
Government Fleet and the American Public Works Association also named the No. 1 fleets in size categories — the No. 1 small fleet (499 or fewer assets) is the City of Dublin, Ohio, with 292 vehicles, and the No. 1 mid-size fleet (500-999 assets) is the City of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada with 941 units.
The City of Tulsa was also recognized as the No. 1 large fleet (1,000 or more assets), with more than 3,100 vehicles and competed with cities such as Denver, Anaheim, Chesapeake, Long Beach, and Kitchener, Ontario Canada.
