(Tulsa, OK) – The City of Tulsa is set to celebrate Welcoming Week 2022, a nationwide annual celebration that brings immigrants, refugees, and longtime residents together to affirm the importance of unity and inclusivity, from Sept. 9 - 18.
“We are working to make Tulsa a city of opportunity for everyone,” Mayor G.T. Bynum said. “A key part of building that kind of city is making Tulsa the most welcoming city in America for immigrants, and Welcoming Week offers us a great chance to highlight so many ways in which Tulsans are coming together to do just that.”
Several events for the Tulsa community will be held throughout the week.
“The New Tulsans Welcoming Plan is about bringing communities together - both long term Tulsans and our newest neighbors. And through this plan we are implementing activities that celebrate the diversity of the city and all the talents that immigrant communities bring to our communities,” said Krystal Reyes, Chief Resilience Officer for the City of Tulsa. “In that same spirit, we participate in Welcoming Week each year to celebrate and bring attention to all the innovative programs and collaborations that are helping create shared prosperity for everyone.”
