Mayor Bynum, Councilor Cue Hold Ribbon Cutting with Lieutenant Governor Pinnell at Route 66 Village Station

Mayor G.T. Bynum and District 2 Councilor Jeannie Cue held a ribbon cutting today with Lieutenant Governor Matt Pinnell at the Route 66 Village Station, 3770 Southwest Boulevard.

“This investment in the Route 66 Village Station, an Improve Our Tulsa project, is part of our community’s overall effort to do more with the unique assets along Route 66 in Tulsa,” Mayor Bynum said.

Reminiscent of a historic Phillips 66 cottage-style gas station, the Route 66 Village Station is a completed $550,000 Improve Our Tulsa project. The facility provides restrooms and short-term parking at the Route 66 Village, 3770 Southwest Boulevard. Reproduction vintage gas pumps add to the Route 66 road trip theme.

“I am so grateful for this wonderful city asset that not only Route 66 tourists get to enjoy but also our Tulsa residents,” Councilor Cue said. “This wouldn’t have been possible without our volunteers, who have made this happen by working tirelessly to see the project through. I also appreciate the ongoing support of my fellow Tulsa Route 66 Commissioners as well as representatives at the state level who recognize Route 66 as a valuable tourist attraction for our city and state.”

Designed by Todd Architecture Group, the Route 66 Village Station also features a coffee bar and Route 66 tourist information. The Route 66 Village nonprofit will oversee and maintain this facility.
