Street Rehabilitation on E. 51st St. between S. Mingo Rd., S. Garnett Rd. to begin February 3; Project to Affect Traffic
1/31/2025
The City of Tulsa will begin a street rehabilitation project on East 51st Street between South Mingo Road and South Garnett Road starting on Monday, Feb. 3.
The project consists of milling – removing the old surface of the road, patching where needed under the surface, and then repaving the road with concrete. Additional infrastructure improvements will also occur, such as updating the intersection to include sidewalks, ramps and new traffic signals, and installing new curbs and gutters.
During the first phase of the project, the innermost eastbound and westbound lanes of E. 51st St., between S. 100th E. Ave. and S. 111th E. Ave., will be closed with traffic limited to one way each direction. This phase is expected to last three months. Once completed, these lanes will reopen to two-way traffic as the outermost lanes close.
Beginning in the fall, work will start on the intersection of E. 51st St. and S. Mingo Rd., beginning with construction on the north portion. During this phase, the outermost lanes for eastbound, westbound and northbound traffic will be closed. Once work on the north side is finished, crews will shift to the south portion of the intersection, requiring closures of the outermost lanes for southbound, eastbound and westbound traffic until construction is completed.
The City of Tulsa has contracted with Becco Contractors for this $3,250,000 project funded through the Improve Our Tulsa 2 sales tax extension. Construction is scheduled for completion by early next year.
