Update Feb. 19; 6:15 p.m.
The City and its partners continue to respond to winter weather and extreme cold temperatures.
Streets Update
City of Tulsa street crews switched to group snow plowing today and have worked to apply salt to help with melting and refreeze tonight. Underneath much of the snow is black ice, which is why drivers and pedestrians are urged to practice caution until road and sidewalk/parking lot conditions improve.
Street crews will continue 24-hour operations for the duration of the event. Until temperatures rise above 20 degrees (or so) and Tulsa gets additional sunshine, road conditions can remain hazardous in spots as freezing/refreeze at these extreme temperatures occurs even when the roads have been treated.
The City's snow and ice routes, in addition to the resources the City has to treat Tulsa's roads, can be found online at www.cityoftulsa.org/winterpreparedness.
Getting People Inside
Outreach teams from A Way Home for Tulsa agencies worked throughout the day to ensure those experiencing homelessness have knowledge of safe and warm spaces available to them.
Since Monday, approximately 1,250 individuals have been sheltered in emergency shelters, family shelters, and youth beds due to the ongoing work of the A Way Home for Tulsa agencies.
While all area shelters currently have the space to meet needs, the City and these agencies are continuing to monitor capacity/occupancy and will make adjustments to the plan if additional space is warranted.

Trash & Recycling Update – Pickup to Resume Friday
For the safety of trash crews, trash service has been suspended through Thursday due to extreme temperatures and neighborhood street conditions.
Monday & Tuesday Trash Customers - Haulers will work to service your trash carts on Friday
Wednesday, Thursday & Friday Trash Customers - Haulers will work to service your trash carts on Saturday
The bottom line: If your trash hasn’t been serviced this week, please leave your trash cart at the curb and crews will resume collection as soon as conditions allow.
If any trash cannot be picked up by Saturday, customers will be allowed to set out a reasonable amount of extra, bagged trash (similar to how much would normally fit in a trash bin), next to their gray trash cart on their regular service day next week. This extra trash DOES NOT need to be stickered.
The same can be said of recycling, which was canceled this week and will be picked up on your regular service day next week. Extra recyclables can be placed in a recyclable container (i.e. cardboard box) and set next to your blue recycling bin on your regular service day next week.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have extra trash and recyclables, please DO NOT intermingle them both into one pile, as doing so could result in your recycling not being picked up.
For the latest updates on trash collection, follow the City on Facebook, @CityofTulsaGov, or check www.cityoftulsa.org/refuse.

If you see someone leaving their dog out for prolonged periods of time in this weather in Tulsa, call Tulsa Animal Services at (918) 596-8001.
Waterline Breaks & Household Pipe Protection
While the City has not seen an uptick in waterline breaks, sustained extremely low temperatures could cause an uptick in breaks.
⦁ To view waterline breaks, check the waterline break board at www.cityoftulsa.org/breakboard
⦁ To make a report (if your break isn’t on the board, yet) call Water Dispatch at (918) 596-9488

Metro Link Tulsa
Due to ongoing life-threatening winter weather, MetroLink Tulsa will suspend all services on Thursday, February 20, including Fixed Route, MicroLink, and LinkAssist.
Additionally, Denver Avenue Station and Midtown Memorial Station will be closed during this time.

Public Service Company of Oklahoma
PSO is monitoring the weather closely and is ready to respond if needed. As of this afternoon, there were no widespread outages in Tulsa.
⦁ If your home loses power, notify PSO using the mobile app, www.psoklahoma.com, or by phone at 1-833-PSO-OUTG (833) 776-6884.
⦁ For safety’s sake, assume that any downed utility line is energized with deadly electric current. Stay away from the line and do not touch it with anything. Report it to PSO at 1-833-PSO OUTG or 1-833-776-6884.
Oklahoma Natural Gas
Oklahoma Natural Gas continues to monitor the weather and deliver safe, reliable natural gas to its customers’ homes and businesses.
The accumulation of snow and ice can increase the potential for damage to natural gas meters. When removing ice and snow from meters, vents or flues, use a broom instead of a shovel to keep your natural gas service running safely.
If you smell natural gas:
⦁ Leave the area immediately
⦁ Do not use electrical equipment
⦁ Call 911 and Oklahoma Natural Gas at (800) 458-4251
