The City of Tulsa is updating landscape regulations in the Zoning Code, and public comments are welcome during this process. An open house public meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 31, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. and from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the Visual Arts Room at Central Center at Centennial Park, 1028 E. Sixth St., to receive public comment on these updates.
The current draft update is posted online. Two files are included: one shows the changes from the existing code to the draft, and the second file is the draft language only. Citizens also may send comments by email to [email protected]
The City of Tulsa’s Planning and Development Department and the consulting firm Duncan Associates have worked with local landscape architects and developers to shape this draft update.
Landscape regulations are tied to several themes in the priorities, goals and policies of the City of Tulsa’s comprehensive plan – PLANiTULSA. Landscaping can promote pedestrian activity, reduce urban heat island, improve stormwater quality, buffer neighboring land uses by reducing noise and glare, and enhance neighborhood appearance.
The 2016 Tulsa Zoning Code was adopted to provide updated regulations for the City of Tulsa, residents and builders to reflect PLANiTULSA’s recommendations and vision. During the process of updating the zoning code as a whole, a decision was made to revisit the landscape regulations at a later time for a more in-depth look.
